Birch Bay Annual Ring of Fire & Hope

Time: Flare lighting starts at 7 p.m.
Revelers begin bringing in the New Year early by lighting road flares along the Birch Bay shoreline, and anyone can participate. This is a spectacular sight as the bay becomes a ring of fire, signifying hope for the coming year. Free flares available at the Birch Bay Visitor’s Center starting at 5:00 p.m., on a first come, first serve basis and one flare per family. (while supplies last).

Time: Festivities start at 9:30 a.m. to about 1 p.m. Plunge @ Noon
Participants come from as far away as Germany, Tokyo, Chicago, and British Columbia to plunge in to the bay's chilly water. There is no cost to take the plunge, but people who register receive "I Took The Plunge" certificate and hot beverages. "I Took The Plunge" commemorative T-shirts are available for purchase.

This is the 6th Birch Bay 25k. This course starts and finishes at Birch Bay State Park in Birch Bay, WA. The course has stunning views of Birch Bay, Cascade Mountains, White Rock and the Canadian Gulf Islands. This is a no frills race. Mostly used for those training for the Birch Bay Marathon on February 16th, 2014. Just add one more lap to your out, loop and back and you have the full marathon!
