Join a two mile walk along the beaches and paths of spectacular Semiahmoo Spit. We will walk at a relaxed pace, enjoying spectacular views, investigating beach and tideland life, and talking about glacial erratics, salmon canneries, and local lore. Bring boots or sandals to walk in tideland areas. Meet at the Semiahmoo Park Museum. No pre-registration needed.

A family favorite! Discover secrets behind the owl's silent flight and listen to the sounds of owls. Learn about owl adaptations while examining feathers and pellets. Have a hoot exploring field and forest on the lookout for local owls. This family program is for children 5 and up and their parents. Adults are welcome! We spend time outside - dress for the weather. Class meets at 8:00pm at the Tennant Lake Interpretive Center. DIRECTIONS: Take exit 262, head west to Hovander Road, turn left under railroad tracks then right onto Nielsen Ave and follow to end of road.

This area is one of the most significant birdwatching areas in Western Washington. Enjoy the discovery of birds and their behaviors with expert ornithologist Paul Woodcock. Meet at Semiahmoo Park Museum. Bring raingear and appropriate footwear. Call 360-733-2900 for additional information. Children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Campfire Program: Semiahmoo Sunsets
Follow Signs to "Campfire" from Semiahmoo Museum

Cost: $2 at start of program
This "long, low narrow strip of glistening sands flung out into the Georgian Gulf" immortalized by poet Ella Higginson has been the stage for the lives of Native Americans, the salmon canning industry, and one of the crown jewels of Whatcom County's Parks. Trace the threads of these stories as the sun dips into the sea for one of the legendary Semiahmoo sunsets. Program held inside Cannery Day Lodge in inclement weather. Bring raingear and appropriate footwear. Call 360-733-2900 for additional information.
